CBD brownies are becoming a popular (and delicious) way to get your fix of CBD oil. From athletes to CEOs, the elderly and everyone in between, more and more people want to incorporate this nutritional supplement into a healthy lifestyle thanks to the greater understanding of CBD oil and its benefits.
CBD contains numerous nutritional properties so makes for a healthy addition to your home bakes, especially brownies. Hemp seeds are gluten-free and a source of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, fibre, essential fatty acids and amino acids, all of which contribute to a healthy body and mind.
And if there is a choice between a CBD salad and CBD brownies, some of us are definitely in the CBD brownie camp!

Are CBD Brownies Legal?
When looking for a good CBD brownie recipe on the internet you might first wonder about the legality of CBD and whether it’s legal to make CBD brownies. The simple answer is yes; it is legal to make and consume delicious CBD brownies here in the UK.
Why Put CBD in Food?
CBD is a non-psychoactive compound found in hemp. It interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system and, whilst research into specific benefits is still ongoing, it is widely believed to aid the functionality of mental and physical processes that occur within the body. Making cakes or brownies with CBD oil can be a fun and delicious way to get your daily CBD fix.
When adding CBD to food, it passes through your digestive system before eventually entering your blood. This is a slower process than using CBD sprays or droppers which means that the effects are not felt as quickly and may not be as potent.
CBD is now as commonly acknowledged in the wellness space as any other wellbeing promoting vitamin or mineral. Cooking with CBD means that we can replace elements missing from our diet whilst fine-tuning and enhancing the way in which the body performs.
Making your own CBD edibles can be a cheap and effective way of getting CBD into your diet. Using CBD oil to make CBD brownies is a great way to introduce yourself to this popular food supplement but it’s important to make sure that you use a decent CBD brownie recipe so that you can easily judge how much CBD you are consuming. Which leads us to ask the question…
How Much CBD Oil Should I Put in CBD Brownies?
If you are brand new to using CBD in cooking, be sure to start out small. You don’t want to add too much and find out that the taste isn’t quite what you imagined, so start out using small amounts to avoid wasting valuable CBD oil in brownies you don’t want to eat.
When taking CBD oil it is important not to exceed the suggested daily limit of 70mg of CBD in any 24 hour period. Whether you ingest your CBD via droppers, sprays or in CBD brownies, you must ensure that you always keep to this limit and never exceed the suggested daily amount.
If you plan to eat all of the CBD brownies yourself in one sitting (!), mix in as much CBD as you would normally take in one dose (we advise 3 drops per dose) and, as long as you eat the whole thing, you will know that you have had one whole dose of CBD.
However, most people prefer to make share bakes like CBD brownies to divide up, so you will have to stir CBD through the brownie mix carefully to ensure it is distributed evenly. Remember that when you cut up your brownies, assuring that the CBD has been mixed through thoroughly, the dose of CBD you ingest will be the amount you put into the recipe, divided by the amount of slices you cut it into.
For example if your brownie recipe is for 10 brownies and you use a total of 100mg of CBD, you will know that each brownie contains 10mg of CBD (if stirred thoroughly!).
It sounds obvious to say, but sometimes we undertake our daily routines (such as teeth brushing) on auto-pilot without a second thought. If you regularly use CBD droppers throughout the day, you will have to remember the quantity of CBD per slice of brownie and count it into your daily allowance of CBD. Take care not to use drops/sprays later on throughout the day if you have already fulfilled the 70mg of CBD via CBD brownies to avoid inadvertently taking too much.
Is CBD Adversely Affected by Heat?
Similarly with heating other oils such as olive oil, heating CBD oil during cooking can sometimes deplete its unique qualities and change its composition. This is why we take such painstaking care to extract our CBD to guarantee only the purest and highest quality cannabinoids. Carefully balancing the temperature of our CBD extraction is a highly skilled process (and a tricky one to perfect) but we are proud to be able to deliver the highest quality CBD extracts as a result.
If using CBD to make brownies you might wonder if the CBD oil is altered by heating it. Heating it more than 120 degrees can destroy all its efficacy so it’s a good idea to make brownies using a low heat. Better still, try a no-bake raw vegan brownie recipe which will eliminate the need to heat the oil at all. We also like adding CBD oil to the icing/frosting after the brownies have baked and cooled as a foolproof way of using CBD oil in your baking.

We love using all sorts of yummy nutritious additions to our brownie recipes, such as this recipe here for courgette vegan brownies (yes really) so adding CBD is a great choice if you care about wellbeing and leading a healthy lifestyle.
If you are a competent baker and adept at making delicious confections like brownies anyway, then you may well already have a favourite brownie recipe that you use. If this is the case, then you can simply add your preferred dose of CBD oil (adhering to the dosage guidelines mentioned above) to the brownie mix and bake as usual.

How to Store CBD Brownies
CBD lasts longer than brownies do so there should be no issue with the CBD deteriorating (however it is important to remember more generally that CBD can deteriorate if not stored correctly). It’s important to store your CBD brownies in a cool, dark place and use the usual storage guidance for storing brownies (as per the recipe).
