At EthicaCBD, we believe that true calm isn’t something we chase… it’s something we return to.
How do we get there? More often than not, a walk in the forest.
The Science of Stillness
Modern life rarely gives us silence. But in the company of trees, something shifts. Research has shown that simply spending time among greenery can lower cortisol levels, reduce anxiety, and restore the nervous system.
The Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku, or “forest bathing”, is now supported by a growing body of neuroscience. Just being near trees can reduce heart rate, lower blood pressure, and increase parasympathetic activity — the part of the nervous system responsible for rest, recovery, and calm.
Why Trees Make Us Feel Safe
Trees are deeply symbolic. Rooted, resilient, and generous, they offer a kind of non-verbal reassurance. In the shade of an old oak or beneath the canopy of rainforest trees, our bodies remember something: that we are part of nature, not separate from it.
That feeling of reconnection with breath, body, and the world around us, is where calm begins.
From Calm Within to Calm Around
This Earth Month, we’re planting trees as a collective act of care. Not just for the planet, but for our inner state as well. Every tree planted through our partnership with Tree Nation supports reforestation in Tanzania’s Usambara region, helping protect biodiversity, preserve rainforests, and support local communities.
But it’s more than that.
When you care for yourself, you create space to care for the world.
When you calm your body, you calm your choices.
And when you plant a tree, you plant a future that’s rooted in balance.
What You Can Do Today
Every £1 you spend with EthicaCBD this April plants one tree. You can find balance within yourself whilst restoring balance to an entire ecosystem…
Take a breath.
Take care of your body.
And take part in planting a calmer world.
